Christmas Ornaments Crafts | Christmas Tree Ornaments

Christmas Ornaments have become such a prominent part of the Christmas festivities that the holiday season would somehow seem incomplete without them. The tradition of using Christmas Ornaments began in the 16th Century in Lauscha in Germany. The story goes that a glass-blower called Hans Griener couldn’t afford to buy the then-fashionable tree ornaments – apples, candies, nuts – to decorate his Christmas Tree with, so he made small fruit-shaped and nut-shaped glass baubles. The idea caught on with his customers and soon his glass ornaments were in great demand. He began making them in all sorts of shapes, including spherical, which proved the most popular. Given the profit he made, it’s not surprising that his example was followed by the other glassblowers in town and soon Lauscha became renowned as THE center for producing glass baubles in Germany and soon after in the world.Queen Victoria had a Christmas Tree decorated with Lauscha glass ornaments, and the American businessman F. W. Woolworth did well for himself importing the baubles to the U.S.A. Later on, mass production replaced the hand-blown glass-making, and other people around the world decided to have a go at making the baubles too. Christmas glass ornaments now come in all shapes and colors and types of glass. You can buy mass-produced ornaments as well as specially handcrafted ones. There are many glass-artists selling their creations on the Internet, as well as in craft shops and at craft fairs. For some unique ornaments, be sure to check those out.The most favorite glass Christmas ornaments in modern times seem to be the Christmas Ball (the round bauble, or ball, as it is known in the USA), the Christmas Pickle (shaped like an actual pickle and hidden in the Christmas, and the person who finds it gets an extra present for the effort), the Glass Snowflakes, and the Christmas Star (which nobody has to search for; it has the envied position on top of Christmas Tree).

Looking for a way to express the care and touch that massage therapists offer, Let The Journey Begin (www.LetTheJourneyBegin.com) has created four massage-themed Christmas tree ornaments.

Not being able to find any massage-themed Christmas decorations gave Sharon Buck of Let The Journey Begin website an idea. Why not create something for massage therapists to show off their profession?

Nationally recognized graphic designer Jonnie Kalmbach (www.beri-uniquedesigns.com) created four beautiful designs on fine glass Christmas ornaments. Rarely done for a mass market, the Christmas ornaments are also unique because two of the designs are four-color on a white background.

The ornaments are Loving Hands on a candy white background, The Gift of Touch also on a pearl white satin background, The Gift That Gives Back on a candy apple red background, and The Gift of Touch on a green background.

The ornaments are 3-1/2” with the design area 2”. Each ornament is individually boxed. Ornament pricing prior to October 1 is .95, after October 1 the price will be .95 per ornament.

Question by leanne♥.: What can I make to use as ornaments for my miniature Christmas tree?
I have a little Christmas tree for my room which I just put up, but I lost its original ornaments last year and lost the little candy canes I made out of pipecleaner, along with the red and white pipecleaner I used. What can I use to decorate it that I can make with general household items? Thanks, Merry Christmas :)

You could try to string popcorn (popped), and if you feel real ambitious, you could spray them any color you like. Merry Christmas
